How to set up an SSL certificate from a third party

How to install a third-party SSL certificate on your hostingws account is explained in this post.

Setting up an SSL certificate from a third party

A certificate that is not acquired from hostingws is referred to as a third-party certificate. For the majority of the certificates it sells, hostingws offers automatic solutions, therefore the following actions are not necessary.

The following stages make up the process of buying and setting up a third-party certificate:

  1. Create a private key first.
  2. Create a Certificate Signing Request (CSR) using the private key and a few identifying details.
  3. Forward the Certificate Authority the Certificate Signing Request.
  4. As directed by the Certificate Authority, finish one or more identification and confirmation stages.
  5. If a Certificate Authority package is offered, install it together with the certificate that the certificate authority has issued.

Only the last installation step is required if you have previously bought an SSL certificate for your domain from another supplier. You must have both the certificate and any Certificate Authority bundle, as well as the private key that was used to produce the certificate, in order to install an existing certificate correctly.
