How to change the URLs of WordPress websites using phpMyAdmin

  • A WordPress website's URL can be changed for a number of reasons. These are some of the primary causes:

  • Changing a WordPress website's HTTP to HTTPS settings

  • Changing the domain of a WordPress website

  • Making a live WordPress website out of a local one

  • changing the directory where the WordPress website is located.

Enter the new site URL in the option_value field:

Find home under the option_name header, then choose Edit:

Press "Go." The table's modifications are saved by phpMyAdmin. The modified URL should now allow WordPress to operate properly.

WordPress URLs may be updated or changed in three different ways; this article explains how to use phpMyAdmin to modify WordPress site URLs.

Modifying the URL of the WordPress website

Use these procedures to modify the website's URL in WordPress:

  • Open cPanel and log in.

  • Click phpMyAdmin in the Databases area of the cPanel home screen.

  • Click the WordPress database in the phpMyAdmin window on the left. The database's tables are listed as follows:

  • Click the wp_options table under the Table title. Data rows are shown in a list:

  • Find siteurl and home under the option_name header, then choose the pencil icon next to Edit the option value for each row:
